Thank you for this beautiful post. I have not run barefoot but I have run with Vibram Five Fingers which I think might be the closest thing to truly barefoot running. I have run many many miles on sand, on trails, on pebbles and rocks, as well as a treadmill. Some of the trails are ancient paths, while others are recently created. Either way, I love the feeling of actually "feeling" the earth and the full contact of my foot with the earth. I also love how, like Yoga, I can now experiment with running by using different foot positions. It has made a marked difference not only in how I run, but also my body and alignment in general. I appreciate your comment about maintaining mindfulness while running barefoot, as we do in practising yoga.
Again, thank you for a lovely post :-)
