Mobile Yoga
Yoga is often defined as the unity of mind, body and spirit, gently increasing one’s body and mind awareness with steady gradual control. Barefoot running and walking, which we like to call “Running Yoga” and "Walking Yoga" or "Mobile Yoga" not only unifies our minds, bodies and spirits, but reconnects us to Mother Earth. It’s like taking your yoga practice outdoors and using the ground as your moving yoga mat. You’re no longer practicing yoga indoors, but communing with Nature and all of its living organisms in its nutrient dense soil, plants and animals.
Put simply, connecting with Mother Earth brings us joy. The scientific name is biophilia, defined as the innate bond between humans and other living things. We are relaxed by our proximity to nature, because we spent thousands of years as hunters and gatherers. Nature was our source for food and water in a very direct way. New studies are showing the more time we spend in nature, the healthier we are mentally and physically, and the more intelligent, creative and peaceful we are as well.
Barefoot running is not merely a tool for improving your running performance as commonly misperceived. When you begin to think of it as running yoga, you begin to understand its deeper potential. At RunBare we strive to incorporate a holistic approach to all barefoot movement.
